Day 16 - Ios to Athens & Good-bye
Today was a travel day. We took a 4 hour ferry ride from Ios to Athens, stopping at a few other islands along the way. We arrived to the Port of Pireaus at rush hour and so we did not arrive to our hotel until after 6:00. It’s still in the 90’s here and even though we had the cool air conditioning of the ferry and the van to the hotel, we still felt the crush of the heat and collapsed when we got to the room!
But there is no rest for the weary, as we wanted to make the most of our last night in Greece. So we were quickly back out the door for dinner and some final shopping.
So that’s our trip to Greece! Tomorrow we fly home to Boston so this will be my last blog post. I have enjoyed sharing the trip with you all. And I have really treasured this time for our little family, especially with Sophia as her life gets more complicated as she moves through college. We discovered the warm hospitality of the Greek people; we have all tried new foods and made new discoveries of things we like (though none of us still like olives!); and we definitely all want to return! Yamas!
